Welcome

Theatre Enthusiast
People often ask me how long it takes me to write a play, and I tell them ‘all of my life.’ I know that’s not the answer they’re after — what they really want is some sense of the time between the first glimmer of the play in my mind, and the writing down, and perhaps the duration of the writing down — but 'all my life' is the truest answer.

Each Season

The Theatre Artists Studio presents eight short plays by resident playwrights in a showcase entitled New Summer Shorts (always an audience and reviewer favorite). Full length plays by Studio members are also presented from time to time, such as 2021-2022 season’s Mysterious Disappearance by Kirt Shineman,  Exit Dust by Joe Bardin and the 2022-2023 season opener Unretouched by Tim Ashby.

The Studio’s “First Look” series also helps with the development of new plays. It is a monthly play reading at the Studio with a director and actors in front of an audience. At the end of the readings, the playwrights can get feedback from the audience and the actors.

You can see everything that’s happening at The Studio by going to their Calendar.

About Us

We are playwrights working together to develop new plays for the American theatre . Some of us have been working in theatre for several years, others come to it after careers in diverse other pursuits. We all share a passion for live theatre:

Other writers, actors, directors or theatre enthusiasts are welcome to join us Monday mornings at 10am at Theatre Artists Studio as we read each others’ new projects and offer suggestions toward making them ready for the stage. We’re always looking for actors willing to help with the readings and offer constructive criticism from an actor’s perspective.
